This Monday D J Evans got to meet a driven, young entrepreneur from the Newmarket Academy, James Lockwood. James has a talent for woodworking and his dream career is to become a set builder.

Earlier this year James won the Dragons Den initiative that was set up by the Newmarket Festivals four years ago. This initiative was set up to help young, motivated students able to gain funds that will help them set up their future career.

George, our Ironmongery and Woodworking expert and Leah, our Marketing Executive, had the pleasure of meeting with James and two of the 'Dragons'. We were able to present him with an impressive Record Power kit. The Dragons purchased a Record Power lathe for the budding woodworker and D J Evans donated a Record Power chuck and Record Power chisels, James was more than pleased. Now we would say that's an excellent piece of kit that will put him in good stead for reaching his goals.

We were so pleased to have had the chance to get involved in the community and support nurturing local talent. The work that the Newmarket Festivals is doing within the community is brilliant and with the Principal of Newmarket Academy, Nick Froy encouraging initiatives like this, the future can only be positive.

D J Evans was built on family and community values which is why we are passionate about events like this. We hope that James will keep in touch and let us know what projects he is working on with these Record Power products. He was keen to begin working on doorknobs and candlestick holders. Previously he was unable to complete projects like this with his school equipment, but with the help of the 'Dragons' and D J Evans, this young man's goals are in sight.

We would like to thank Newmarket Festivals and the Dragons for getting us involved in this worthy event - Noel Byrne, Chief Executive at Bedford Lodge Hotel, Kevin Hancock, Managing Director at YuTree Insurance and Michelle Kerr, Customer Relations Manager at the Newmarket Racecourse.

D J Evans has always endeavoured to work with quality assured manufacturers and we are proud to be working with Stonebridge Handforged Architectural Ironmongery. With the introduction of 3D printing, Stonebridge uses the latest prototyping equipment, combining this new technology with age old methods means they can create a style that combines traditional designs with a contemporary twist. Although Stonebridge utilises modern design methods and automated machinery, there are still some parts of the process that can only be done by hand to give that truly authentic feel.

Why not come to our Bury branch and find out what other quality Architectural Ironmongery products we stock. Architectural Ironmongery products are also stocked at our Ipswich branch, however the range is just a bit smaller.

D J Evans would like to highlight that alongside the quality products we stock, we also offer a free scheduling and advice service to Architects, Designers, Specifiers, Building Contractors and Housing Developers throughout East Anglia.

It’s that time of the year again, Christmas festivities are over and the office is returning to normality.

Although the festive buzz might be over, D J Evans still has a whole lot of hustle and bustle going on. You might have been down to our

Bury St Edmunds branch, or read our December newsletter and you would have an insight into what’s happening with all the building work and renovations. Well we are more than just a mezzanine floor this month! Walls are going in and it looks like our new offices are almost ready, set and go. All our staff at D J Evans head quarters are very excited about what’s happening and looking forward to the offices, “We feel this is a huge step forward for the D J Evans Group and are definitely looking forward to the end product. The company is moving forward together” says our Marketing Manager.

Not only are these times exciting for our staff, but also our customers. With the offices nearly done, we are now turning our attention to the shop floor, which is going to have a fantastic new look. It is going to be brilliant seeing our original, Bury St Edmunds branch, with a clean, new look.

We want our customers to be involved in this process as much as possible and therefore we always welcome ideas and feedback on how we are doing. We want your opinion, whether it is on the products we sell, the new shop, our website or even the content of the newsletter. You can contact our Marketing Manager leahmattoli@djevans.co.uk or our sales team at sales@djevans.co.uk.

On offer this month we've got a Beta C24s/7 Roll Cab for just £250 pounds + VAT and the Dewalt DCK2059D2Y XR Impact Drill 18V Twin Pack now only £166.62+VAT

Christmas Fayre Wrap Up

We’ve been busy here at D J Evans. We had our second year showing at the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre, the second largest in the UK. We had a fantastic time and learnt some lessons on how we can improve and make

our stall even better next year. We got lots of great feedback and enjoyed supporting our local community.

We thought it was a super way to start the merry season and are in full Christmas spirit now.

Whilst we were showing at the Fayre we were also

hosting Black Friday sales in store, a busy time indeed! We are without a doubt looking to get more involved in

our community and look forward to the future!

Building Works

As you may well have noticed, we are in the process of refurbishing our Bury St Edmunds branch and we are well on our way now. With all the shop products relocated to the back, this has created room for us to begin

working on putting in a mezzanine floor for our new offices and a brand new show room. The floor is now complete, which we are very pleased about and electrics should be in soon! We are

very excited about the changes taking place and in the near future, we will have a superb new shop for you all

to enjoy!

Along with changes to the shop, we’re also undertaking

a rebrand, so you might have seen that our website is also going through some updates. Please bear with us during this process, we assure you, it will all be worth

it in the end!

Ironmongery News

We are very excited to now be the exclusive dealer for Stonebridge Architectural Ironmongery in Suffolk. We know these hand forged designs created by skilled Artisans are stronger and higher quality than cast versions.

Stonebridge is already an award winning company and as experienced Ironmongery dealers, we trust in their quality. We are looking to supply Architects and Joinery Manufacturers, whose view is that door hardware is an intergral part of the building specification, with the quality products they need. Contact us today to find out more. Reach us on 01284 754132 and ask for Trevor.

We do feel like it’s time to grow, and really get involved our town, the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre gives us the perfect opportunity to do just that!

This is only our second year exhibiting at the Fayre, we had such an amazing time last year, we couldn’t resist coming again. You might be pleasantly surprised about what products we will have at the market, as it might not be what you expect. Along with some of the items that we stock in our store, we’ve also got a few pieces that we are excited to be selling and we hope you’ll pop along for a look!

Our team has been down at the Bury market, working away putting up lights and setting up snow tipped garlands and we hope that you’ll be coming along to say hi, we are always pleased to see both new and familiar faces. We’ve worked hard to make our stall look and feel like Christmas grotto, but we know there is always room for improvement, so if you have any feedback, then do let us know!
