This Monday D J Evans got to meet a driven, young entrepreneur from the Newmarket Academy, James Lockwood. James has a talent for woodworking and his dream career is to become a set builder.
Earlier this year James won the Dragons Den initiative that was set up by the Newmarket Festivals four years ago. This initiative was set up to help young, motivated students able to gain funds that will help them set up their future career.
George, our Ironmongery and Woodworking expert and Leah, our Marketing Executive, had the pleasure of meeting with James and two of the 'Dragons'. We were able to present him with an impressive Record Power kit. The Dragons purchased a Record Power lathe for the budding woodworker and D J Evans donated a Record Power chuck and Record Power chisels, James was more than pleased. Now we would say that's an excellent piece of kit that will put him in good stead for reaching his goals.
We were so pleased to have had the chance to get involved in the community and support nurturing local talent. The work that the Newmarket Festivals is doing within the community is brilliant and with the Principal of Newmarket Academy, Nick Froy encouraging initiatives like this, the future can only be positive.
D J Evans was built on family and community values which is why we are passionate about events like this. We hope that James will keep in touch and let us know what projects he is working on with these Record Power products. He was keen to begin working on doorknobs and candlestick holders. Previously he was unable to complete projects like this with his school equipment, but with the help of the 'Dragons' and D J Evans, this young man's goals are in sight.
We would like to thank Newmarket Festivals and the Dragons for getting us involved in this worthy event - Noel Byrne, Chief Executive at Bedford Lodge Hotel, Kevin Hancock, Managing Director at YuTree Insurance and Michelle Kerr, Customer Relations Manager at the Newmarket Racecourse.
